A Home, A Hardship, A Helping Hand

Linda Smith has been a homeowner in the Meadows at Northcrest HOA community since 1996. She and her husband Al found what they believed was a peaceful place to build a life in Paulding County. But life had other plans.

In 1998, Al’s job relocated them to Texas, and while they settled there, they held onto their Georgia home, hoping one day to return. Sadly, Al’s health began to decline in the early 2000s, and the couple never made it back. After years of battling kidney failure, cancer, and COVID-19, Al passed away in August 2025.

Since then, Linda has faced the emotional and financial strain of maintaining two homes (her primary residence in Texas and the property in Powder Springs). With limited resources and growing HOA compliance concerns, she found herself in need of support.

How New PATH Forward Stepped In

A board member familiar with Linda’s situation connected her with Ben, the owner of Brown’s Ground Care, one of the first vendors to help New PATH Forward. Ben generously donated his time and services to help launch the program, making Linda one of its first recipients.

Ben replaced damaged siding, repaired a facia section, and performed landscape work to bring the property back into compliance. His contribution not only helped Linda avoid violations, it also gave her peace of mind during an incredibly difficult season.

A Story That Inspires

Linda’s story is a powerful reminder of why New PATH Forward exists: to bring relief, dignity, and hope to homeowners facing hardship. Her gratitude speaks volumes: “I’m very thankful to be a candidate to receive assistance with helping me to stay out of violations with the HOA.”
